The National Agency for Food and Drug Administration and Control (NAFDAC) has issued an urgent recall of Nivea Black & White Invisible Roll-on deodorant, 50ml, due to serious health concerns.

This action follows a notification from the European Union Rapid Alert System regarding the product’s potential risks.

In a statement released on Thursday, NAFDAC identified the affected batch, number 93529610, and highlighted that the deodorant contains 2-(4-tert-Butylbenzyl) propionaldehyde, a chemical banned in cosmetic products.

“This substance poses significant health risks, including potential reproductive harm, adverse effects on unborn children, and skin irritation,” the agency warned.

Manufactured in Germany and labeled as providing 48-hour protection in African climates, the product has been flagged for its dangerous ingredients.

NAFDAC urged importers, distributors, retailers, and consumers to remain vigilant to prevent further distribution and use of the recalled item.

Consumers who possess the affected batch are instructed to stop using the product immediately and return it to the nearest NAFDAC office.

Healthcare professionals and consumers are also encouraged to report any adverse effects linked to the use of this product.
