Naira Notes: LASU Bursar Slumps, Dies While on Queue to Withdraw N5000 | Daily Report Nigeria

A Deputy Bursar of the Lagos State University, Mr Johnson Adesola Ademola, slumped and died on Monday, 20 February 2023 at the school’s Wema Bank branch.

Ademola reportedly slumped while waiting on a queue to withdraw N5000 of new naira notes.

He was said to have been on the queue as early as 6 am without taking his breakfast.

An eyewitness, who spoke to newsmen, lamented over Ademola’s death, saying;

”We did not notice him complaining but what we saw him going down. Sympathizers rushed to apply first aid on him but gave he up the ghost.”

“What an irony of fate for a bursar dying while waiting for N5000,″ the source added.

Mr. Ademola’s body has since been moved to a nearby morgue for autopsy.

Pregnant woman dies as hospital rejects old naira notes

A Kano State-based man, identified as Malam Bello Fancy, has narrated how he lost his pregnant wife at the Abdullahi Wase Specialist Hospital in Kano, the state capital after the hospital allegedly refused to accept the old Naira notes he brought.

According to Fancy, his wife, Shema’u Sani Labaran, died as a result of delay in the transfer made to the bank account of the hospital after it refused to accept payment with the old Naira notes.
