A former Senator representing Kaduna Central District, Shehu Sani, has urged President General Muhammadu Buhari to revealed the names of the governors pocketing local council funds in the country.
Sani’s request is coming on the heel of Buhari’s disclosure that some state governors remitted half of the funds allocated to local governments in their states.
Daily Report Nigeria reported earlier that the president made the disclosure at a parley with members of the Senior Executive Course (SEC) No. 44 (2022) of the National Institute for Policy and Strategic Studies, Kuru, on Thursday in Abuja.
“Governors and local government officials who ‘pocket’, according to the President, public monies are to blame for the stalled development at the local governments.”
Following the statement, Shehu Sani took to his Twitter account on Friday to urge the President to be courageous in being explicit with the names of the governors involved in the reckless use of local council funds.
“The President should have the courage to specifically mention those governors pocketing LG allocations rather than timid generalisation.”
