At a one-day Education Summit held in Lafia, the Chairman of Nasarawa SUBEB, Dr. Kassim Muhammed-Kassim, declared that no child in the state must be denied basic education, stressing that it is a right, not a privilege. He said the board will no longer tolerate parents who refuse to send their children to school, and legal actions may follow where necessary.

Muhammed-Kassim said the summit was organised to gather ideas that can reshape basic education across all 13 local government areas of Nasarawa State. He expressed concern over the shortage of trained teachers and the issue of illegal promotions within the system, calling for fresh reforms to improve learning quality.

“Basic education is a right of every child in this state. We will ensure no child is left behind,” he insisted.

To reinforce this directive, the chairman revealed that SUBEB has acquired seven buses to drive a statewide sensitisation campaign through media engagements and town hall meetings, ensuring parents understand the consequences of neglecting school enrolment.

Declaring the summit open, Governor Abdullahi Sule announced that the state is set to break ground on a $90 million paper mill project in Keffi, describing it as one of the major investments expected to boost development in Nasarawa.
