Operatives of the National Drug Law Enforcement Agency have intercepted a major consignment of cocaine concealed in heads of imported dry stock fish, popularly known as okporoko, in Lagos State.
The agency said the illicit shipment, weighing 5.80 kilograms, was intended for export to Delhi, following the dismantling of a transnational drug syndicate.

Spokesman of the agency, Femi Babafemi, disclosed that the drugs were recovered during a coordinated sting operation by operatives at the Murtala Muhammed International Airport command in Ojo area.
According to him, 237 wraps of cocaine were discovered in three jumbo bags belonging to a suspect, Akputa Dickson Ejike, 36.
In a related operation, NDLEA operatives intercepted additional consignments bound for the United Kingdom, including 1.9kg of methamphetamine hidden in automobile filters, as well as morphine and fentanyl injections.
The agency also carried out raids across multiple states, leading to the arrest of a suspected drug kingpin, Omolade Abigail Jolayemi, popularly known as Iya Ghana, in Yaba, Lagos. A total of 76.30kg of cannabis was recovered from her network.
Further arrests were made in Surulere, Ekiti, Ondo, Benue, Edo, and Taraba states, where large quantities of illicit drugs, including skunk and codeine-based syrup, were seized.
Among those arrested include Oke Samuel, 80, in Ekiti, and other suspects linked to distribution networks operating across Nigeria and neighbouring countries.
The agency said the operations were driven by intelligence on trans-border drug trafficking activities, reaffirming its commitment to dismantling drug cartels and curbing the flow of illicit substances.
