NECO Releases 2024 SSCE External Results, Records 67.35% Pass Rate | Daily Report Nigeria
  • The National Examinations Council (NECO) has released the 2024 Senior School Certificate Examination (SSCE) External results.

  • -A total of 86,067 candidates registered for the examination, with 84,799 participating, and 57,114 candidates obtained five credits or more.

  • The results showed a significant reduction in examination malpractice cases, with 6,160 candidates involved.

The National Examinations Council (NECO) has released the results for the 2024 Senior School Certificate Examination External, conducted from November 14 to December 14, 2024.

According to Prof. Dantani Ibrahim Wushishi, NECO’s Registrar and Chief Executive, 86,067 candidates registered for the examination, with 84,799 participating.

Wushishi reported that 57,114 candidates, representing 67.35%, obtained five credits or more, including English Language and Mathematics.

He noted that 62,929 candidates, representing 75.62%, obtained credit and above in English Language, while 77,988 candidates, representing 93.93%, obtained credit and above in Mathematics.

“The number of candidates who got five credits and above, including English Language and Mathematics, is 57,114, representing 67.35%,” Wushishi said.

Also, 70,711 candidates, representing 83.39%, got five credits and above, irrespective of English Language and Mathematics.

Wushishi also addressed the issue of examination malpractice, noting a reduction in the number of malpractice cases compared to the previous year.

He revealed that 6,160 candidates were involved in various forms of malpractice, a 27.7% decrease from 2023’s 8,518 cases.

Prof Godswill Obioma, registrar of the board, stated that 26,277 out of the 39,503 candidates who sat for NECO 2020 obtained five credits and above including English Language and Mathematics.
