Ned Nwoko Breaks Silence on Arrest of Regina Daniels’ Friend

  • Ned Nwoko’s team confirms Ann Izuegbu Anthonet’s arrest, dismissing Regina Daniels’ claims as misleading.
  • Allegations include defamation, threats, and criminal misconduct, now under police investigation.
  • The dispute follows public accusations of domestic violence and substance abuse within the estranged marriage.
  • Law enforcement has reportedly issued warrants over alleged theft from Nwoko’s residence.

Nigerian politician Senator Ned Nwoko has reacted to the arrest of Ann Izuegbu Anthonet, a close associate of his estranged wife, Nollywood actress Regina Daniels, as the bitter family dispute continues to unfold publicly. The arrest has triggered intense online debate, with conflicting narratives emerging from both sides.

The controversy gained traction after Regina Daniels took to social media on January 14 to question the legality of her friend’s arrest. In her posts, the actress suggested that Ann was being unfairly targeted, listing a range of allegations, including claims related to drugs and theft, which she described as fabricated.

However, Ned Nwoko’s communication team, in a statement shared on Instagram, strongly rejected Daniels’ version of events. The team described her claims as “false, reckless, and deliberately intended to distort the facts.”

According to the statement, Ann Izuegbu Anthonet was arrested after allegedly making defamatory social media posts, accusing Nwoko of physically assaulting his wife, Laila Nwoko, and causing her to suffer a miscarriage, allegations the family insists are entirely untrue.

The statement further alleged that Ann played a role in procuring an illegal abortion for Regina Daniels during her marriage to Nwoko. The claim suggests that Daniels was made to ingest harmful substances that led to prolonged bleeding and the loss of an unborn child.

Nwoko’s team also accused Ann of involvement in the handling and distribution of illegal substances, noting that a formal witness statement had been submitted to the Maitama Police Station in October 2025.

They maintained that the arrest stemmed from a threatening and defamatory social media post directed at the Nwoko family and emphasized that the case is now under active investigation by relevant law enforcement agencies.

“This is not a social media dispute but a law-enforcement issue grounded in evidence, witness testimonies, and due process,” the statement read.

Adding another layer to the unfolding drama, Regina Daniels recently disclosed that arrest warrants had been issued for her and certain family members over allegations involving the theft of $40,000 from Nwoko’s residence.

The couple’s private issues first spilled into the public space in October, following a viral video shared by Daniels in which she accused Nwoko of domestic violence. Nwoko later denied the claims, counter-alleging that Daniels struggled with drug and alcohol addiction.

While Daniels admitted to past drug use, she accused the senator of encouraging it as a form of control, an allegation Nwoko has firmly denied.

The Nwoko family has urged the public to refrain from speculation, stressing that the matter should be left in the hands of law enforcement until investigations are concluded.
