NEMA Receives 153 Nigerian Returnees from Chad Under IOM Programme

The National Emergency Management Agency (NEMA) has received 153 Nigerian returnees from Chad, facilitated under the Assisted Voluntary Return Programme (AVRP) by the International Organisation for Migration (IOM) in collaboration with the Federal Government.

The Lagos Operations Office of NEMA confirmed that the returnees arrived on Sunday, October 27, 2025, at 12:15 pm aboard an ASKY Airlines flight (registration CAS-AC) at the Cargo Terminal of Murtala Muhammed International Airport, Lagos. The group included 105 adults (63 males, 42 females), 45 children (25 males, 20 females), and 3 female infants.

Upon arrival, officers of the Nigeria Immigration Service (NIS) conducted biometric registration and documentation to ensure accurate profiling and smooth reintegration.

NEMA provided immediate humanitarian assistance, including food, potable water, medical care, ambulance services, luggage handling, logistics, and counselling.

The agency emphasised that the operation reflects the government’s commitment to the safe, dignified, and humane return of citizens, coordinated jointly with IOM and the National Commission for Refugees, Migrants, and Internally Displaced Persons.
