NFF to Hire Foreign Technical Adviser for Super Eagles, Apologizes for Recent Poor Performance | Daily Report Nigeria

The Nigeria Football Federation (NFF) has confirmed it will hire a foreign technical adviser for the Super Eagles. This decision was made during a meeting of top NFF officials on Thursday.

Attendees included President Ibrahim Musa Gusau, 1st Vice President Felix Anyansi-Agwu, 2nd Vice President Gbenga Elegbeleye, and members Yusuf Ahmed, Babagana Kalli, Sharif Rabiu Inuwa, Sunday Dele-Ajayi, Aisha Falode, Ganiyu Majekodunmi, Nse Essien, Margaret Icheen, Timothy Heman Magaji, Silas Agara, George Aluo, Nkechi Nneka Obi, and Secretary Mohammed Sanusi.

In a communiqué, the federation apologized to fans for the national team’s poor performance in four of the 10 matches during the 2026 World Cup qualifiers. The NFF pledged to implement necessary measures for the AFCON 2025 qualifiers in September 2024 and the World Cup qualifiers resuming in March 2025.

The communiqué stated, “The Executive Committee resolved to employ an expatriate technical adviser for the Super Eagles in the coming weeks, ahead of the AFCON qualifiers and the remaining FIFA World Cup qualifying matches.”

The committee also expressed dissatisfaction with the poor attitude of some players towards national duties and unanimously agreed to enhance scouting for outstanding Nigeria-eligible players worldwide who can significantly contribute to the team.
