President Muhammadu Buhari has approved the appointment of Prof. Munakurogha Adigio substantive Vice Chancellor of the Nigerian Maritime University, Okerenkoko, Delta State.

Prof Munakurogja Adigio’s appointment has been effective since june 11th, 2020.

While briefing newsmen upon receiving his appointment letter from the Federal Government, Prof Munakurogha Adigio stated his desire to put the Maritime University on the international map.

He revealed his plans to partner with the University of Liverpool in England to establish a full Marine Engineering programme in the school.

The newly inaugurated Vice-Chancellor further stated moving the Maritime University to it’s permanent site as one of his cardinal objectives.

Until his appointment, Prof Adigio was a professor in the Faculty of Engineering, Niger Delta University, Wilberforce Island, Bayelsa state. He holds a PhD in Mechanical Engineering from the Loughborough University, Loughborough, Leicestershire, United Kingdom in 2006

On a similar note, President Buhari also approved the appointment of Prof. Stephen Agochi Okodudu of the Department of Sociology, Faculty of Social Sciences as the acting Vice-chancellor of the University of Port Harcourt, UNIPORT.

Prof Okodudu’s appointment is meant to span through a time frame of six months and it’s effective from July 13th, 2020.

Both appointments were contained in a press release by the Director of Press and Public Relations in the Federal Ministry of Education, Ben Bem Goong.
