APC’s Binani Wins Adamawa Governorship Election

Aishatu Dahiru Binani has been declared winner of the Adamawa governorship election.

Binani was declared winner by the Independent National Electoral Commission, INEC, on Sunday morning.

INEC Voids Binani’s Declaration as Winner of Adamawa Guber Election

The Independent National Electoral Commission (INEC) has voided the declaration of Senator Aishatu Binani as winner of the Adamawa governorship election.

Daily Report Nigeria reports that Binani was declared winner of Saturday’s supplementary poll by the State’s Resident Electoral Commissioner (REC), Ari Hudu.

However, the electoral umpire has voided the declaration by Hudu, adding that collation of results and other processes had not been concluded.

INEC also said the declaration of the candidate of the All Progressives Congress (APC) was an usurpation of powers of the Returning Officer, and that Hudu’s action had no effect whatsoever.

This was stated in a tweet by INEC’s
National Commissioner, Information & Voter Education, on Sunday afternoon.

The commission also suspended further collation of results as all critical officials involved were ordered to report at INEC’s headquarters in Abuja immediately.

“The attention of the Commission has been drawn to a purported declaration of winner in the Adamawa Governorship election by the Resident Electoral Commissioner (REC) even when the process has clearly not been concluded.

“2. The action of the REC is a usurpation of the power of the Returning Officer. It is null, void and of no effect.

“Consequently, the collation of results of the supplementary election is hereby suspended.

“3. The REC, Returning Officer and all involved are hereby invited to the Commission’s Headquarters in Abuja immediately. Detailed statement to follow shortly,” Okoye stated.

 

APC’s Nasir Idris Wins Kebbi Governorship Election

Nasir Idris, the candidate of the All Progressives Congress as emerged winner of Kebbi governorship election.

Idris was declared winner of Saturday’s supplementary poll by the Independent National Electoral Commission, on Sunday.

Daily Report Nigeria recalls that INEC had reported the cancellation of results in 20 out of the 21 local government areas of the state as cause to declare the March 18 election inconclusive.

The Yobe Returning Officer, Professor Saidu Yusuf, who announced the results, said Nasiru Idris scored 409,225 votes to defeat his closest rival and candidate of the People’s Democratic Party (PDP), General Aminu Bands, who has 360,940 votes.

Reacting to his victory, the Governor-elect promised to run an all-inclusive government.

Nasir further pledged to build on the existing achievements of Governor Abubakar Atiku Bagudu.

He said;

“Let me use this opportunity to thank our teeming supporters who turned out en masse to vote APC into the office to continue enjoying the dividends of democracy.

“To those who we contested with from other parties, you should know we have no other state than Kebbi. You should therefore join hands with us to move the state forward.”

 

Dino Melaye Wins Kogi PDP Governorship Primary

Senator Dino Melaye has emerged winner of the governorship primary election of the Peoples Democratic Party in Kogi State.

The former senator representing Kogi West Senatorial district was announced winner of the election by the returning Officer on Sunday.

According to result from the Kogi governorship primary, Dino Melaye scored 313 votes ahead of Idoko Ilonah, who polled 124 votes.

Other results saw Awoniyi Sunday score 77 votes, while Musa Wada polled 56 votes.

A total of 27 aspirants had declared interest to contest the primaries in the state, including former senator Attai Aidoko, Kebiru Usman, Abdullahi Haruna, and Zakaria Alfa.

Dino Melaye is purportedly supported by former Vice President and Presidential candidate of the PDP, Atiku Abubakar.

His win is coming less than a week after Governor Nyesom Wike of Rivers State declared him unfit to become governor.

Wike is said to have supported Idoko Idah, who lost to Dino.
