A mathematics teacher at Imagbon/Imaka Comprehensive High School in Ogun State, Mr. Kayode Adewale, has been named among the 50 finalists for the prestigious 2025 Global Teacher Prize.

The announcement was made on the Global Teacher Prize website, with Adewale being the only Nigerian to make the shortlist.

Adewale, a STEM educator, has been recognized for his innovative teaching methods, which have helped to improve the academic performance of his students.

According to the Global Teacher Prize website, Adewale “bridged the gap between his students’ linguistic and cultural realities and the academic content, fostering understanding and engagement.”

His teaching methods blend Culturally Relevant Pedagogy with Digital Literacy, guiding students to transform their smartphones into valuable academic tools.

The Global Teacher Prize is a $1 million award that recognizes educators who have made outstanding contributions to education.

The winner will be announced later this year.

As one of the 50 finalists, Adewale has already won $25,000 and will receive a trophy at the Global Teacher Prize ceremony.

Nassarawa Governor Suspends Board Over Teachers Employment Fraud

Gov Abdullahi Sule of Nasarawa state has suspended the chairman and board members of the state’s Teachers Service Commission following the unauthorized employment of over 1,000 teachers.

The governor had previously emphasized that only teachers properly recruited through approved processes would receive their full entitlements.
