Jose Peseiro expressed his disappointment that Nigeria didn’t clinch the 2023 Africa Cup of Nations in Ivory Coast.

Despite facing challenges like financial limitations and key player injuries, Peseiro managed to guide the Super Eagles to the final of the tournament.

The team remained undefeated in six matches, with draws against Equatorial Guinea and victories over Ivory Coast, Guinea-Bissau, Cameroon, Angola, and South Africa, leading them to the final.

Unfortunately, they suffered a 2-1 defeat against the host team in the final match. Peseiro also tweeted from his account, expressing the team’s pride in their performance throughout the tournament.

“We are sad for not having been able to win this title for Nigeria. But we are very proud of the tournament we played,” Peseiro, who is currently out of contract, tweeted.

“Guys, only we know how much we suffered and fought to have reached this final. I can’t find the words to thank everyone for what we did and achieved. I am grateful.”
