The Nigerian National Petroleum Company Limited (NNPC Ltd.) has raised alarm over what it calls a calculated sabotage campaign aimed at discrediting its leadership and halting its ongoing reform agenda.
In a statement signed by Mr. Aliyu Abubakar, Manager of Media Relations, the company alleged that both internal and external forces are behind a wave of misinformation meant to smear its image and stall progress.
According to the statement titled “Coordinated Sabotage Campaign Against NNPC Limited’s Leadership”, the petroleum company accused a syndicate of spreading fabricated and scandalous reports to weaken public trust and derail the institution’s transformation into a transparent, efficient, and corruption-free energy firm.

“These are calculated efforts by those who feel threatened by reform, transparency, accountability, and change clear evidence of the lengths to which they will go to obstruct the transformation of Nigeria’s foremost energy institution,” the statement read.
NNPC Ltd. warned that more defamatory content may be pushed in the coming weeks but insisted that the organisation remains focused on its mission and undeterred by the orchestrated distractions.
It also called on its employees, stakeholders, and patriotic Nigerians to “stay focused, ignore the noise, and not be discouraged.”
The company reassured the public that its leadership remains committed to delivering on the mandate given by President Bola Tinubu to clean up and reposition the oil sector for sustainable national development.
