The teenage winger, whose transfer from Chelsea caused uproar after being purchased for an estimated £52 million, took advantage of opportunities after Bukayo Saka’s injury and performed well in Arsenal’s preseason games.
Speaking on his YouTube channel ahead of Arsenal’s Champions League opener, Ferdinand said:
“I just want to give the haters, the naysayers who were hammering Madueke (a message).”
He added that fans who once doubted the 23-year-old forward now celebrate him:
“He’s delivered in a game and Arsenal fans are now salivating over him and saying they love him, he’s our saviour.”
The English winger showed speed and desire in Arsenal’s 2-0 Champions League opening victory over Athletic Club.
Views on the former PSV Eindhoven star’s transfer and Arsenal’s summer business have changed as a result of his performance.
Ferdinand’s comments touch on a wider pattern in football: big-money signings often face intense early scrutiny, but form and chance can quickly change public opinion.
In this case, Arsenal’s faith in Madueke, together with squad rotation and injuries elsewhere created a window for the player to stake his claim.
As a result, supporters who once questioned the transfer have begun celebrating his contribution.

Looking ahead, the pressure will remain. Consistency matters in the Premier League and in Europe.
Nevertheless, for now, Madueke’s start has bought him credit among fans and senior voices in the game.
As Ferdinand put it plainly, “Those fans need to come out now, those naysayers and negative guys need to come out now and say sorry.”
If Noni Madueke keeps producing, that apology may arrive sooner rather than later.
