Okowa Apologizes Over State of Delta State School of Marine Technology Burutu | Daily Report Nigeria

Governor Ifeanyi Okowa of Delta State has apologized to the people of Burutu over the slow pace of the Delta State School of Marine Technology, DESSOMATECH.

Okowa gave the apology when be visited Burutu to commission projects executed by the Burutu Council Chairman, Godknows Angele.

The governor’s apology followed a request by the Burutu community Chairman, Comrade Ebizimor Ekisah for the governor to direct renewed attention to the school.

Ekisah had called on the governor to work towards the accreditation of courses, mobilization of contractor back to site for the building of the permanent site, upgrade of the school to a full polytechnic, and the appointment of a substantive rector for the school.

The Chairman also decried the poor level of under staffing facing the Burutu Grammar School, which he said has just eight government teachers, including the principal.

He noted that the community resorted to employing fourteen auxiliary teachers to rescue the situation.

Okowa swiftly apologized for the slow pace of work in the Marine School, and attributed it to the fact that the school had been under the ministry of transport until recently.

The Governor, however, promised that the school would be given the needed attention without further delays.

On the part of the part of the Burutu Grammar School, Okowa commended the community over its thoughtful attempt to rescue the situation.

He further requested for the names of the 14 auxiliary teachers, adding that the state would work towards their employment provided they were qualified.

The governor later proceeded to commission the new Legislative Quarters and other projects built by the Godknows Angele’s administration.
