One Killed, Others Arrested as Nigerian Troops Dismantle IPOB Stronghold in Anambra

The Joint Task Force South East (JTF-SE) has successfully dismantled a notorious insurgent enclave known as “Mother Valley” in Nkwere, Anambra State.

The operation, carried out on Thursday, involved personnel from the Nigerian Army, Nigeria Police Force, and the Nigerian Security and Civil Defence Corps (NSCDC). The troops launched a daring assault on the Mother Valley enclave, overcoming difficult terrain and fierce resistance from suspected militants.

“During the intense engagement, the criminals employed locally made hand-held IEDs and heavy gunfire in a desperate attempt to halt the advance,” the statement said.

Despite the resistance, security forces claimed they overpowered the group, neutralising one IPOB member and recovering a cache of weapons and logistics items.
