President of Ijaw People’s Development initiative, IPDI, Comrade Ozobo Austin has thrown his weight behind the call for the split of Burutu Federal Constituency into two or three Local Government Areas as one of the largest and oldest Councils in the country.

The right activist in an interview with newsmen, called on the duo of Senator James Manager of Delta South Senatorial District and Hon. Julius Pondi, member representing Burutu Federal Constituency at the House of Representatives, to ceased the medium of the constitution amendment to agitate for the split of Burutu LGA to two or three separate LGAs.

He lamented that while almost all the Council Areas created much later after the creation of Burutu in Delta State have been splited into two or more, while Burutu has remained a sad tale.

Ozobo insists there was never a better time to agitate for the split of Burutu into two or more Local Government Areas.

He blamed the delayed splitting of Burutu on neglect on the part of key players in the area.

Burutu is one of the richest Council areas in Nigeria with the Forcados Terminal situated right at the centre of it.
