The internal crisis within the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) has taken a turn for the worse, with members of the National Working Committee (NWC) split over the escalating feud between Rivers State Governor Siminalayi Fubara and Minister Nyesom Wike.

The discord, which stems from a struggle for control of the party, has persisted for months, causing divisions at the highest levels of the opposition party.

During a press conference at the PDP national headquarters in Abuja, the Deputy National Publicity Secretary, Ibrahim Abdullahi, refuted a statement issued by the party’s National Publicity Secretary, Debo Ologunagba, regarding the Rivers State crisis.

Abdullahi declared that Ologunagba was not authorized to speak on the matter on behalf of the PDP.

Abdullahi accused Ologunagba of spreading “calculated falsehood aimed at achieving a predetermined objective” and urged party members and the public to disregard his statement.

He stated, “For the avoidance of doubt, not even the said judgement has been served on the party. The NWC has neither received nor sat to take any decision on the said judgement.”

PDP NWC Affirms Support for Authentic Rivers Excos, Dismisses Wike’s Influence

The National Working Committee (NWC) of the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) has declared its support for the Hon. Nname Robinson Ewor-led Rivers State Executive.

This decision follows a judgment by the Rivers State High Court, which nullified the Ward, Local Government, and State Congresses of the PDP in Rivers State conducted on July 27, August 10, and August 31, 2024, respectively.
