PDP NWC Affirms Support for Authentic Rivers Excos, Dismisses Wike’s Influence

• NWC of the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) has backed the Hon. Nname Robinson Ewor-led Rivers State Executive.

• The decision follows a Rivers State High Court judgment that nullified the Ward, Local Government.

• Ewor, a loyalist of Governor Siminalayi Fubara, has dismissed claims that former Governor Nyesom Wike holds leadership influence within the state PDP.

The National Working Committee (NWC) of the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) has declared its support for the Hon. Nname Robinson Ewor-led Rivers State Executive.

This decision follows a judgment by the Rivers State High Court, which nullified the Ward, Local Government, and State Congresses of the PDP in Rivers State conducted on July 27, August 10, and August 31, 2024, respectively.

According to the PDP National Publicity Secretary, Debo Ologunagba, the opposition party has received and accepted the court’s judgment.

Ologunagba stated, “In line with the judgment of the Court delivered on Monday, January 13, 2025, the NWC affirms the Ewor-led Rivers State Executive to henceforth pilot the affairs of the PDP Rivers State Chapter in accordance with the provisions of the Constitution of the PDP (as amended in 2017).”

Ewor’s emergence as the authentic leader of the Rivers State PDP follows the nullification of the tenure of Aaron Chukwuemeka and his executive committee by the Rivers State High Court.

As a staunch loyalist of Governor Siminalayi Fubara, Ewor has dismissed claims that former Governor Nyesom Wike, now the Minister of the Federal Capital Territory, holds leadership influence within the state PDP.

PDP Secretariat Attacked In Benin City Amid Election Controversy

The Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) secretariat in Benin City, Edo State, has been attacked by unknown hoodlums, resulting in destroyed property and stolen valuables.

The incident is the latest in a series of violent clashes linked to the aftermath of the September 2024 governorship election in Edo State.
