Bandits Kill Seven Farmers in Niger

Armed bandits have reportedly killed seven farmers in an attack on Babban Rami Community in Mashegu Local Government Area of Niger State.

The bandits launched the attacks as the farmers were harvesting their produce with a view to conveying them home.

The farmers were attacked by the bandits with sophisticated weapons and open fire injuring many of them

According to a community leader, six farmers were killed while many were left killed.

This is the first time bandits are launching an attack on farmers in the history of the Local Government Area.

In a similar story, armed bandits killed over 40 rice farm workers near Maiduguri in early December.

The suspected jihadists tied up the farm workers who were harvesting their crops and slits their throats in Koshobe village, Borno state.

The event did send shockwaves across the country, attracting condemnation from the government as well as foreign authorities.
