The Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) secretariat in Benin City, Edo State, has been attacked by unknown hoodlums, resulting in destroyed property and stolen valuables.

The incident is the latest in a series of violent clashes linked to the aftermath of the September 2024 governorship election in Edo State.

The Independent National Electoral Commission (INEC) had declared Senator Monday Okpebholo of the All Progressives Congress (APC) as the winner of the election, securing 291,667 votes.

However, the PDP has rejected the results and filed petitions to challenge the outcome.

The latest attack coincided with a similar incident at the Edo State Governorship Election Petitions Tribunal, where gunmen stormed the venue, causing panic and firing gunshots.

The tribunal, led by Justice Wilfred Kpochi, was hearing a petition filed by the PDP challenging the election result.
