Pep Guardiola reportedly had a heated confrontation with Raheem Sterling during their time together at Manchester City in 2021, according to Marti Perarnau’s new book, “The Pep Revolution.”
The clash took place in Guardiola’s office in March 2021, after Sterling was upset about being benched during a 5-2 victory over Southampton. Sterling’s frustration reportedly stemmed not only from being left out of the starting lineup but also from Guardiola’s frequent praise of Kevin De Bruyne and Bernardo Silva, who were both in excellent form at the time.
The disagreement escalated to the point where Sterling walked out of the conversation, leading Guardiola to drop him from the squad entirely for a match against Fulham. This incident marked a significant moment in their relationship.
