A plethora of petitions challenging the legitimacy of the Ijaw Youth Council Eastern Zone election have been received by the Mobile Parliament of the youth body.
According to documents cited by our correspondent, the petitioners listed widespread violence, killing and maiming of Ijaw youths, intimidation of delegates by gunmen in the election hall while voting was ongoing and threats to the life of some aspirants by gunmen.
The development has forced the 5th Mobile Parliament led by Bob Collins Igetei to summon the Comrade Ama Robert, who chaired the Zonal Electoral Committee that oversaw the September 24, 2024 alongside his secretary.
They are to appear before the House Committe on Public Petition, Ethics and Privileges on an investigation concerning the various petition against on the premise of fairess, equity and justice on Monday October 7, 2024 at Mansal Hotel, Warri, Delta State.

Meanwhile, the Committe also extended invitation to the IYC President, Sir Jonathan Lokpobiri Snr, and other members of the 9th National Executive Council who signed a signed a suspension against the embattled quartet of Mao Obuye Nangi – Secretary, Comrade Miracle Iyaye – Women Leader, Barr. Mltmide Tamunotonye David National Legal Adviser – Legal Adviser, and Comradc Abiye Bob-Manuel National Deputy Director of Mobilization of Council.
Nangi and other NEC members from the Eastern Zone who are faced suspension before the Parliament will also appear before the Committee on Sunday October 6, 2024 at the same venue.
Comr. Prince Datolu Hewart Sukubo was declared winner of the election thas was marred by severe gun duels and the death of at least eleven Ijaw youths.
