Men of the Edo state police command have arrested one Janet Dominic, for the illegal possession of ammunitions.
According to a statement released by the command, the arrest was as a result of a special anti-crime operation by the command’s X-squad.
The suspect was arrested on April 10, 2025, at Iguezemwahu community, along the Benin-Auchi Road in Uhunmwonde Local Government Area.
Confirming the arrest, the spokesperson of the command, CSP Moses Yamu said the 32-year-old female suspect was arrested, while a male suspect ran away upon sighting the law enforcement officers.
Items recovered from the arrested suspect include two single-barrel guns, three pistols, seven live cartridges, one dagger, a trigger mechanism, and one Beretta magazine, which were all concealed in a motorcycle seat.
This comes after 16 Hausa people were burnt to death by an angry mob after being caught with guns and ammunitions.
