The decomposing body of the retired Army captain which was buried in a shallow grave by his kidnappers along Igbo-Etche Road in the Obio/Akpor Local Government Area of Rivers State has been exhumed by the Operatives of the Rivers State Police Command for a proper burial to be carried out.

Geoffrey Zwallamark, 64, was kidnapped from his residence in Agbonchia, in the Eleme LGA, by a four-man gang and taken to a lonely area near Igbo-Etche Road, he was however shot in the leg and subsequently bled to death.

The Rivers State Commissioner of Police, Friday Eboka, said Zwallamark was kidnapped on September 18, 2021, adding that the suspects were tracked and arrested after the crime was reported.

The kidnappers, after contact with the victim’s relatives, demanded the sum of N200m.

Upon their arrest, Automated Teller Machine (ATM) cards belonging to the victim were recovered from them.

“Today, we are here to exhume the remains of the victim for autopsy and possible burial. Though the victim is dead, his killers will face the law and justice will be brought to bear in the circumstance,” he said.

“So, when we got the man, he was proving stubborn. I now shot him in the leg to make him follow us. Along the line, he died the same day because the bleeding was much,” the suspect stated.
