Men of the Rivers state police command have successfully neutralized a notorious cultist in the state.
Daily Report Nigeria gathers that the suspect, identified as Gbarani Bume, a.k.a. Pelele, who is known for terrorizing residents in the Khana Local Government Area of the state was shot dead during a gun battle between him and the police.

It was gathered that he and his gang had attempted to abduct a site engineer before being confronted by the police.
The statement reads;
The Rivers State Police Command has made a significant breakthrough in combating crime, neutralizing a notorious cultist and kidnapper, Gbarani Bume, a.k.a. Pelele, a native of Bere Community in Khana Local Government Area of Rivers State,”
“He was a member of the Iceland Cult Group, which has been terrorizing Beree/Tabaa axis of Khana Local Government Area.

“On the 15th of November, 2024, operatives of the Command attached to Bori Division acting on a tip-off, were mobilized to Luawii Community where Pelele and his gang were attempting to kidnap a site Engineer.
“The hoodlums on sighting the Operatives, opened fire on the operatives and a fierce crossfire ensued between the Police Operatives and the hoodlums during which Pelele was fatally wounded, his accomplices escaped with various degrees of bullet wounds.”
The PPRO added that the items recovered from the suspect includes one AK-47 rifle, two magazines and 10 rounds of live ammunition, while adding that efforts are being made to apprehend the remaining fleeing gang members.
