The lawmaker representing Burutu Federal Constituency in the Federal House of Representatives, Julius Pondi has announced December 17, 2023 as date for thanksgiving following his victory at the 2023 election.
The lawmaker will also be thanking God for emerging victorious at the National Assembly Elections Tribunal as well as the Appeal Court.
The candidate of the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) was declared winner of the February 25 election by the Independent National Electoral Commission (INEC) ahead of his closest rival, Dr. Emibra Agbeotu of the All Progressives Congress (APC).
The win cemented Pondi’s place as the first lawmaker to win three consecutive terms in the constituency.

Not satisfied with INEC’s declaration of Pondi as certified winner of the poll, Emibra sought for the Tribunal to nullification his election, while seeking to be declared as winner.
Emibra’s petition was thrown out on September 12 by the tribunal for lacking merit during its sitting in Asaba, the Delta State capital.
Pondi’s election was subsequently validated by the Court of Appeal Lagos Division, during its sitting on November 7.
According to the lawmaker who marked his birthday on Sunday, the Thanksgiving will hold at the Church of God Mission, Sokebolou, his hometown.
