Pro-Biafra Groups Warn of Plot to Target Igbos During Nationwide Protest

IPOB Ends Sit-at-Homes, Issues Fresh Orders to Biafrans

A coalition of pro-Biafra groups, COPROBIG, has raised alarm over an alleged plot to massacre Igbos during the planned nationwide hardship protest from August 1-10, 2024, describing it as a covert scheme to lure Igbo youths to their deaths.

The coalition, comprising eight pro-Biafra groups, including the Movement for the Actualization of the Sovereign State of Biafra, warned Igbos to avoid participating in the protest and continue their daily activities to prevent potential harm.

“To prevent a potential genocidal plot against Igbos during the protest, we urge Igbos to continue their daily activities and avoid participating in the protest,” the statement read.

COPROBIG’s warning followed the announcement of a nationwide protest by the Take It Back Movement, addressing the rising cost of living and hardship in Nigeria.

The coalition responded to Presidential Media Aide Bayo Onanuga, stating that blaming Peter Obi and the Ndigbo community would not halt the protest. “Blaming Peter Obi and the Ndigbo community will not stop the protest,” the statement said.

The Inspector-General of Police, Kayode Egbetokun, had requested protest organizers to provide specific details to ensure their protection, amid calls for and against the planned protest.

COPROBIG declared that there would be no sit-at-home order in Biafra land during the protest week to avoid giving security agencies an opportunity to harm Biafrans.
