France midfielder N’Golo Kante is set to miss the 2022 FIFA World Cup in Qatar following a hamstring injury.

The midfielder’s injury has kept him out of action since the commencement of the current season.

According to DailyMail, Kante had been slowly building his way back to full fitness before suffering an aggravation of the injury in training last week.

French publication, L’Equipe also reports that the injury will keep Kante out of action into the World Cup as he would not recover in time for the tournament.

The development is a major blow to Didier Deschamps and the France team, especially as uncertainty also surround the fitness of Paul Pogba.

France go into the defending their crown without their two first choice midfielders from their 2018.

Chelsea boss, Graham Potter had expressed hope that Kante would recover in time to feature for the Blues.

Potter said;

“He had a reaction during training. It’s obviously not ideal. It’s disappointing for him and for us. We have to wait and see how serious it is and then we’ll take it from there.”
