The Speaker House of reps, who arrived at the Chamber around 11.20 a.m., abruptly adjourned plenary due to the lack of an order paper.

He was also displeased with the Clerk of the House for not being seated when he arrived. The Chamber was sparsely populated when the Speaker entered, with only a few members seated.

“I’m going to hold you (the clerk) accountable, and I’m going to hold whoever else is accountable.”

This House convenes at 11:00 a.m., as everyone is aware. It’s 11:20 a.m., and when I walked in, there was no one on this row.

You weren’t here, and neither were any of your deputies. We can’t function as a House because the order paper isn’t ready.”

“What kind of thing is that, that we are now being forced to adjourn plenary?”

“Everyone should see me in my office, House adjourned till Tuesday,” Gbajabiamila said angrily as the plenary session was adjourned until next week.

The speaker arrived at the chamber around 11.20 a.m., which is slightly earlier than the usual start time for the plenary, despite the fact that the plenary is scheduled to begin at 11:00 a.m.

The order paper is a program schedule that governs the plenary proceedings.

Members of the House of Representatives moved on Wednesday to investigate the Ministry of Labour and Employment’s alleged unfair recruitment process into the National Social Investment Trust Fund (NSITF)
Representative Ismail Tijani filed a motion alleging undue favoritism for people from one region of the country in the agency.

The House is concerned, according to the lawmaker, that the Minister’s alleged reign of impunity across the ministries and agencies under his supervision has continued unabated despite engagements and interventions by the National Assembly.
