The House of Representatives has directed the Joint Admission and Matriculation Board (JAMB) to remit ₦3.602 billion to the Federal Government Consolidated Revenue Fund (CRF). The board has been given 30 days to comply or face sanctions.

The directive was given during an investigative hearing in Abuja, where Rep. Bamidele Salam, Chairman of the Public Accounts Committee, emphasized that the remittance is a straightforward legal obligation.

“This is not a matter of debate. JAMB must remit the specified amount to the Fiscal Responsibility Commission (FRC) and provide proof of this transaction within 30 days,” Salam said.

The FRC had previously brought JAMB before the committee regarding an unremitted operating surplus, which was recalculated and communicated to JAMB in March and August.

JAMB’s Director of Finance and Administration, Mufutau Bello, attributed the discrepancy in remittance figures to the FRC’s intention to adjust the board’s revenue to 50 per cent, contrary to the 25 per cent concession given by the Office of the Accountant-General.
