Rio Ferdinand Slams PSG Player Performance in Barcelona’s Victory Over PSG

Manchester United legend Rio Ferdinand didn’t mince words as he criticized goalkeeper Gianluigi Donnarumma for his passive role in Barcelona’s victory over Paris Saint-Germain in the UEFA Champions League quarter-final first leg match.

Donnarumma’s decision to stay on his line during defender Andreas Christensen’s winning header drew Ferdinand’s ire, with the former footballer branding it a ‘crime’. Additionally, Ferdinand pointed out two earlier mistakes by Donnarumma in the first half.

“I think the goalkeeper in the first half makes two mistakes from crosses and I think in his head he’s saying, ‘I’m going to stay on my line no matter what now and let the responsibility fall on the defenders to defend this set-piece’,” Ferdinand said on TNT Sports.

“That is in his six-yard box, he is 6/7″ or so. That is a crime almost, not coming in your six-yard box and claiming that.”
