Rivers Hotel Starves, Tortures Worker to Death Over Missing N17,500
Nnenna Onu was allegedly starved and tortured to death by owners of Nwayioma Hotel over N17500 shortages

The management of Nwayioma Hotel, Ebocha Ogba, Egbema Ndoni local Government Areas, has been accused of starving a staff to death of a missing N17,500.

The victim identified as Nnenna Onu, popularly known as Nancy, a native of Uburu in Ohaozara local government area of Ebonyi State, was accused of embezzling the said amount by the hotel owners.

According to Ahiamadu Jackson Samuel, who raised the alarm in a petition to the Nigerian Police Force, management of Nwayioma Hotel is said to have tortured and locked her up without access to food and water.

She was reportedly taken to the hospital where she died after becoming very week on the third day of torture and starvation even after paying the alleged missing sum.

Narrating the incident, Samuel wrote;

“Dear Nigeria Police Force, we write to draw your urgent attention to the gruesome murder of a young lady in Nwayioma Hotel, Ebocha Ogba Egbema Ndoni LGA, Rivers State by the owners of the hotel who unjustly locked her up in one of the rooms in the hotel for 4 days with no access to food, water, ventilated space, family and friends which resulted to her death merely because she was accused of embezzling NGN17500 which she paid in full before she was locked up.

“Till date, the hotel is fully operational with the Omoku Divisional Police Headquarters refusing to arrest the suspects as well as shut down the hotel.

“Till date, your men at Omoku Divisional Police Headquarters have displayed absolute disrespect to the diseased and her bereaved family.

“As concerned citizens, we are reaching out to the Nigeria Police Force to call her men in Omoku to order.

“In a case of murder, the police cannot and should not summon a peace meeting with no arrest and closure of the hotel. It is not the duty of the police to negotiate for peace or any form of settlement between the bereaved family and murderers. Kindly ask your men to do the needful.”

Another source identified as Daniel Onyeije alleged that “the Omoku police command had a meeting with the victim’s family and the hotel management where they admitted that indeed all that was alleged is true that they’re SORRY…..the family is asking if SORRY will bring back their daughter!

They’re not interested in monetary compensation, all they want is justice for their daughter/sister, Nnenna Onu Obini(She’s also known as Nancy), a native of Uburu in Ohaozara LGA of Ebonyi State.

“Nwayioma Hotel, Ebocha is still fully operational,one begins to ask if money is everything in this society of ours. You can kill a human being and use money to settle the powers that be. I don’t want to believe the Nigerian Police will joke with this matter. SHUT DOWN NWAYIOMA HOTEL We want #Justice4Nancy.”

The police was yet to comment on the incident as of press time.
