The family of late retired Justice Ifeoma Okogwu is in mourning following her murder at her private home behind The Pointer Newspapers in Asaba, Delta State. The incident, believed to have occurred overnight on Sunday, has triggered a wave of outrage and raised serious questions about those entrusted with her security.
Her brother, Ogbueshi Godfrey Okogwu, confirmed the tragedy.

“My eldest sister was murdered in her house on Sunday night. We only got the news on Monday morning, so we believe it happened overnight,” he said, visibly shaken.

According to the family, suspicion heightened when the night security guard assigned to the house disappeared immediately after the incident. The morning guard reportedly met the gate wide open, a detail that further deepened concerns about possible internal collaboration.
The family disclosed they have already submitted details of the private security firm responsible for the guards to the police. The morning guard is currently in custody, while the owner of the security outfit has been summoned for questioning.
Police spokesperson SP Bright Edafe revealed that operatives of the Homicide Section, acting on intelligence, tracked Mngumi to Anambra State, where he attempted to flee. At the time of his arrest, the mobile phone of the deceased jurist was found in his possession.

The suspect reportedly confessed to inviting two others, one identified as Nnaji Obalum, now arrested, and another still at large into the residence, where they allegedly carried out the killing.
Police say efforts to apprehend the third suspect are ongoing, while assuring the public of full justice.
The Delta State Police Command emphasized its commitment to ensuring no culprit escapes legal consequence, describing the case as grievous and intolerable.
