The Nigerian Senate has constituted an ad-hoc committee to investigate alleged unauthorized spending by the Niger Delta Development Commission (NDDC) on its 2021 and 2022 budget estimates.

The decision was reached following a motion by Senator Adamu Alero (PDP- Kebbi) who raised concern over the NDDC’s breach of the constitution by engaging in expenditure on the budget estimates without the approval of the National Assembly.

The decision was made after reports on three budget estimates of NDDC were presented by the committee Chairman of Niger Delta, Sen Amos Bulus.

Senator Alero’s motion and objection to consideration of the budget were supported by Senators Seriake Dickson (PDP-Bayelsa) and Solomon Adeola (APC-Lagos).
