Senegal to Host Okocha, Eto’o, Drogba After AFCON Triumph

Austin Jay Jay Okocha, Didier Drogba and Samuel Eto’o have been invited for Senegal national stadium inauguration and last AFCON title presentation.

Senegal’s Sports Minister, Matar Ba revealed that the trio among other African Football legends will be hosted by Senegal in Dakar for the inauguration ceremony of their newly-constructed National Stadium.

The retired amateur Senegalese freestyle wrestler made the disclosure while speaking at a press conference on Saturday.

The former Super Eagles player, Okocha, Chelsea Legend, Drogba and the current president of the Cameroonian Football Federation, Eto’o will all participate when the Lions of Teranga will take their AFCON’s trophy celebration to another level on Tuesday.

Meanwhile, Senegal lifted the 33rd edition of the AFCON few weeks back after defeating Egypt on Penalties in the final.

The Olympic Stadium whose construction began in February 2020 was finally completed in less than two years.

The 50,000 capacity multi-sports stadium will host the Summer Youth Olympics in 2026.

Bâ said: “There will be a match between the former glories of Senegal, of all generations, and African stars.”

“There will be Okocha, Drogba, (Patrick) Mboma, Samuel Eto’o and so many others. Of course, the (AFCON) trophy will be presented to the Senegalese people.”
