Afrobeat musician Seun Kuti has revealed that his late father, Fela Anikulapo Kuti, had over 100 concubines in addition to his 27 wives.
Speaking on the ‘Bahd & Boujee’ podcast hosted by reality star Tolanibaj and actress Moet Abebe, Seun Kuti said, “People only know of Fela’s 27 wives, they don’t know of his over 100 girlfriends that lived with us in the house.”
Seun recently shared that Fela married 27 women on the same day to preserve their honor and dignity after the media labeled his female dancers and band members as “prostitutes.” Fela’s mass wedding in 1978 was considered a bold and controversial move at the time.
