The Warri North Local Government Council Chairman, Honourable Smart Asekutu, has emerged the best performing local government chairman in Delta State according to the Federal Ministry of Special Duties and Inter-Governmental Affairs.
This is coming after the ministry in collaboration with the awarding organisation, Segnip Promotions Limited, hosted a dinner and award night at the International Conference Centre, Abuja, for performing local government council chairmen in Nigeria.
The award, Nigeria Local Government Development Award, is in recognition of his contributions to the development of the council area.

The event which was well attended by local government chairmen in Nigeria, had in attendance the Warri North Local Government Council chairman, who was ably accompanied by the Secretary to the Council, Honourable Meyiwa Khalil.
In his post award remarks, Hon.Asekutu dedicated the award to God Almighty, the state Governor , Dr. Ifeanyi Okowa, and the amazing people of Warri North Local Government for their invaluable support and goodwill which made this acknowledgement of his performance in office possible.
He added that with the award, he was being challenged to do more in delivering more dividends of democracy to the council area, especially the riverine communities in the local government area.
Hon. Khalil who was very enthusiastic about the award, congratulated his boss, the Warri North Council chairman, for putting the council on the National chart, describing him as a miracle chairman.
The award is still eliciting positive reactions from friends and family of Hon. Asekutu, congratulating him on his achievement, which many described as monumental.
