Tension gripped Abraka Community in Ethiope-East Local Government Area of Delta State on Saturday evening after soldiers pursuing suspected internet fraudsters, commonly known as “yahoo boys,” shot and killed a pregnant woman.
Residents, indigenes, and students reportedly staged protests immediately following the incident.

The soldiers, part of Operation Delta Sweep, had flagged down the suspected fraudsters, but they reportedly refused to stop and sped off.
In the ensuing chase, the soldiers fired sporadically, and a stray bullet struck the pregnant woman, who was not involved in the pursuit. She was said to have died instantly, before she could be rushed to the hospital for medical attention.
