Women across Southern Nigeria, on Saturday, gathered in Lagos to pray for governors of the Niger Delta region.
The women were conened by the National Coordinator of Ijaw Monitoring Group, Comrade Joseph Eva.
According to the senior citizen, the governors of Delta, Edo, Ondo, Bayelsa, Rivers, Akwa-Ibom, Cross River, and Abia state have failed the region.
The governors, who receive substantial allocations and 13% derivation from the federal government, face allegations of misusing the funds for personal gains rather than developing the region.

The prayers offered in the spirit of seeking divine intervention gear towards bringing about a transformation in the lives of leaders across the Niger Delta region.
The women and Evah tasked the governors to be accountable for their actions and to prioritize the development of the region.
The organisers urged Niger Delta governors to emulate former governors of the region, HRM Alfred Diete Spiff, Chief Udokobo Jacob Esuene, and Chief Samuel Osaigbovo Ogbemudia, who drove development and industrialization in the region.
“The Niger Delta, South-South, and ordinary Nigerian youth, man and woman are not lazy. We only have lazy leaders at the top who are cowards,” Evah said.
“Myself and these women are only doing this to awaken the consciousness of our leaders for them to come our aid,” he added.
They sought divine guidance and wisdom for the governors, including Senator Duoye Diri – Bayelsa, Sheriff Oborevwori – Delta, Umo Eno – Akwa Ibom, Lucky Aiyedatiwa – Ondo, Bassey Otu – Cross River, and Siminalayi Fubara – Rivers,
Meanwhile, over 2,000 bibles were distributed during the event, which featured prayers seeking economic wisdom and patriotism for the governors.
