Real Madrid edged Barcelona in a frenzied Spanish Super Cup semi-final played at King Fahd International Stadiumon Wednesday night.

It was the 100th El Classico and Los Merengues were seen to have surpassed Blaugrana in a 3-2 victory after the extra-time.

To be candid, both teams stepped up their games and both could have won, however, but Los Vikingos just managed to carve out the victory

Barca started piling up their beating against La Casa Blancasince March of 2020, and it has now tallied to a five-consecutive defeat to Madrid.

Last night’s victory has now catapulted Madrid to the tournament’s final which is to hold in Saudi Arabia.

Meanwhile, Carlo Ancelotti’s soldiers will be going toe-to-toe with either Atlético Madrid or Athletic Bilbao in Sunday’s title decider.

Karim Benzema cut the opponents defense open with a through ball that allowed Vinícius give Madrid a lead over Barca in the 25th minute.

Few minutes to the end of first half, Luuk de Jong found an equalizer for Barcelona, following a blunder on the part of Eder Militao.

The French striker put Madrid ahead again in the 72nd minute through Daniel Carvajal’s ball which was intercepted by an opponent.

However, Barcelona roared back through Ansu Fati’s 2-2 leveller converted from Jordi Alba’s cross seven minutes before the end of the match.

Finally, Federico Valverde from Madrid grabbed them the winner through Rodrygo’s assist in the 98th minute of the extra-time.
