"Stop The Attack and Blackmail on Allen Onyema and His Business," IYC Tells IPOB | Daily Report Nigeria

The Ijaw Youth Council (IYC) in Western Zone (Delta, Ondo and Delta) has cautioned the Indigenous People of Biafra to stop the attack and blackmail on the Chief Executive Officer of Air Peace, Barr Allen Onyema.

The caution follows an announcement by the proscribed group’s claims of Allen being a stooge for Fulanis, and warning Nigerians to stop patronizing Air Peace from October to December.

Reacting to the baseless claims by IPOB, the IYC led by Comr Dr. Doubra Okotete has called on the group to desist from it’s attempt at blackmailing the revered nonviolence advocate.

Doubra, in a statement on Friday, highlighted that the Air Peace boss was only an Igbo by birth, for he has lived his entire life in the Niger Delta, the bedrock of his success today.

The IYC also called on elites in the South East to order IPOB to put a halt to any further attacks on the person of Allen Onyeama, and any other Nigerians with the interest of the country at heart.

The group maintained that Air Peace is a corporate organization with a board of trustees that is more than the chairperson.

He further said saying Allen should be commended for being an employer of labour across the federation and beyond, instead of being attacked and blackmailed.

The statement titled “Stop the Attack on Barr Allen Onyema and His Business Interest, Ijaw Youths Warns IPOB” reads in part;

“The Ijaw leadership of the Ijaw Youth Council (IYC) Western Zone (Delta, Edo & Ondo States) has frowned at the incessant attack and blackmail on Barr. Allen Onyema just to pull him down, cautioned IPOB to appreciate what they have rather than threading on the part of destruction.

“Barr. Allen Onyema though hails from Anambra State, was born in Benin city, grew up in Benin and majorly Warri hence, he’s a warri boy: and an employer of labour across the Nigerian Nation and beyond; before he became the CEO of Air peace…

“He should be commended and encouraged for his role in quelling youth restiveness in the Niger Delta region, as well as developing the initial template that ushered in the Amnesty Programme of the Federal Government of Nigeria, the founder of Foundation for Ethnic Harmony in Nigeria (FEHN) and chairman of Air Peace Nigeria, Chief Allen Onyema deserves respect from his kinsmen and tribe rather than the unnecessary attack from the IPOB.

“We are not against the agitation for a Biafran Nation but trying to destroy someone who’s a minor employer of labour and a major contributor to not only the Delta Region but the world at large is a misnomer and should be discouraged by any means necessary.

“Today, the entire country is enjoying the fruit of what Barr Allen Onyema did for the region hence, honour should be giving to whom honour is due.

“It is also pertinent to unequivocally state that Barr. Allen is not just an Igbo man. he’s by his warm contribution a Niger Delta Son.

“Therefore, we are using this medium to call on the elite, political class, traditional rulers, governors, religious leaders and youth leaders
from the Eastern flank to call IPOB to order and focused on their agitation rather than trying to blackmail and smear the name of a young man and his business which bas touched lives positively and making Nigeria proud before the international community.”
