17 Out of 33 Die of Alcohol Poisoning

No less than 17 persons have reportedly died of alcohol poisoning in Russia.

The death followed the sale of adulterated alcohol in Orenburg, Russia.

Found in the corpses of the victims was a pure poisonous methanol as confirmed by authorities.

Authorities declared on Friday that out of 33 affected, 17 have died in the process.

Those affected includes members of several villages in Urals, South-East of Moscow.

Denis Pasler, governor of the said affected region has therefore urged members to abstain from buying or consumption of alcohol.

Pasler warned: “Until the results are finalised, drinking alcohol can be life-threatening.”

In a bid to prevent circulation of the adulterated drink, shops engaging in the sale of alcohol were subjected to inspection.

It was reported that three suspects have been captured while over 1000 bottles of alcohol have been seized.

Authorities said: “In some cases, the concentration of the substance was found to be three to five times higher than the lethal dose.”
