According to Okekebo Kelvin, a resident who shared photos of the wreckage, the pavilion collapsed into the Area Command structures, leading to the partial damage.

Okekebo confirmed to our correspondent that there were no casualties of any sort.

“No casualties. Just a partial damage to the Area Command,” Okekebo said.

Efforts to reach the Council Chairman Godknows Angele, as well as Burutu community Chairman, Comrade Ekisah Herman Ebizimor proved abortive as calls to their phone were unanswered.

The collapsed pavilion usually played host to socio-economic and socio-cultural activities in the community.

Many government functions have also be held at the venue.

The Burutu Area Command was built by incumbent Chairman of the Council, Godknows Angele, and is awaiting commissioning.
