In an extraordinary turn of events, 22-year-old Nigerian goalkeeper, Suleman Shaibu has seamlessly transitioned into a formidable striker for TP Mazembe, capturing the football world’s attention.

Since October 2024, Shaibu has netted seven goals and provided 15 assists in just 13 matches, showcasing his versatility and talent.

From Goalkeeper to Goal Scorer: The Unprecedented Shift

Shaibu’s journey from guarding the net to leading the attack began due to FIFA’s transfer embargo on TP Mazembe, which prevented the club from signing new players.

Facing a shortage of attacking options, Shaibu proposed his services as a striker to the coaching staff.

Embracing this unconventional idea, the coaches handed him an outfield jersey at the next training session.

Despite initial skepticism from teammates and fans, Shaibu remained confident in his ability to adapt and excel in this new role.

Debut and Impact: A Star Emerges

Shaibu made his striking debut on October 26, 2024, coming off the bench in the 65th minute against Don Bosco.

His performance silenced critics and marked the beginning of a remarkable journey.

In a subsequent match against US Panda, he scored two goals in a 3-0 victory, earning the Man of the Match title.
