Taraba House of Assembly Speaker Resigns

Speaker of Taraba state House of Assembly, Prof. Joseph Albasu Kunini has resigned from his position.He tendered his resignation letter before the house during plenary on Wednesday, December 21.The letter was read by the Deputy Speaker, Hammanadama Ibn-Abdullahi who stood as Speaker pro-tempo during the sitting.
The letter reads in part:

“I write to don’tey my resignation as the Speaker, Taraba State House of Assembly. My resignation is on personal grounds. I wish to thank the Honourable members for their support and cooperation while I served as the Speaker of this Honourable House.”

Following his resignation, the Chief Whip of the Assembly, John Kizito Bonzena, who represents Zing State Constituency was unanimously elected by the lawmakers as the new speaker.
