The Taraba State Police Command has arrested a suspected kidnapper connected to the abduction of a 100-year-old man in the Sabon Pegi area of Ibi Local Government Council.
In a press statement on Wednesday, signed by the command’s Public Relations Officer, James Lashen Saminu, the police said the arrest followed swift action by operatives from the Ibi Division working in collaboration with local youths.

The statement explained that the incident occurred on August 6, 2025, at approximately 9:30 a.m., when three unidentified armed men stormed the residence of Joshua Magani Ubandoma and abducted him at gunpoint. The abduction was reported to the police by Hillary Habila Ubandoma.
“Acting immediately, police operatives visited the scene and traced the kidnappers’ motorcycle tyre marks into the surrounding forest,” the statement said.
“After days of intensive search and intelligence gathering, one suspect identified as Kingsley Alose, 37, a resident of Sabon Pegi, was apprehended on September 2, 2025.”
The police confirmed that the case is under investigation, with efforts ongoing to apprehend the remaining suspects and rescue the victim.
Commissioner of Police Betty Enekpen Isokpan Otimenyin commended the operatives for their prompt response and dedication. She also reassured the public of the command’s commitment to maintaining security.
“The Taraba State Police Command remains resolute in its mission to prevent crime and ensure the safety and security of all residents,” the statement read.
