Terrorists Kill Driver, Abduct Travellers In Ondo

Last Friday, terrorists reportedly killed a driver and abducted passengers from an 18-passenger commercial bus in Ondo State.

The incident occurred near the border between Akunu-Akoko in Akoko North West Local Government Area of Ondo State and Ayere in Ijumu Local Government Area of Kogi State.

It was said that the terrorists led the kidnappees into a nearby forest, leaving a young girl behind.

Subsequently, other travelers along the same route arrived at the scene to discover the abandoned bus by the roadside.

Security forces, including the Police, Amotekun, soldiers, and local hunters, swiftly responded. They combed the surrounding bushes in search of the victims.

The Spokesperson of the Ondo State Police Command, SP Funmilayo Odunlami-Omisanya, confirmed the incident in a statement released to journalists in Akure, the state capital.

The State Commissioner of Police, Abayomi Oladipo, promptly ordered a team of officers from the Anti-Kidnapping Squad to be dispatched to the area.

Reports held that the team is diligently scouring the entire region, aiming to rescue the victims and apprehend the kidnappers.
