Three officers of the Ondo State Security Network Agency, codenamed Amotekun Corps, have sustained serious injuries during a gunfight with suspected kidnappers in Akure North Local Government Area of the state.
The suspected kidnappers had abducted seven farmers on Saturday while they were harvesting palm fruits on their farms in Itaogbolu.

The assailants later contacted the victims’ families on Sunday evening, demanding a ransom of N100 million for their release.
Speaking on the incident on Wednesday in Akure, the Amotekun Corps Commander, Adetunji Adeleye, said the officers were attacked when they closed in on the armed kidnappers.
According to him, the operatives were ambushed and shot at by the criminals, leading to severe injuries on three of the officers who were immediately taken to the hospital.
“We caught up to them yesterday (Tuesday), but they opened fire on us which resulted in my men sustaining severe injuries. Three of them were almost killed.
“We are hot on their trail and will not stop until the victims are released. We are camped in the bush and that is where we sleep.
“By God’s grace, we will secure the victims’ release,” Adeleye said.
He also confirmed that no life was lost in the encounter, and efforts are ongoing to rescue the abducted farmers.
